I leave what remains…
Relic derives from the Latin verb relinquo which means “I leave”.
The Latin term reliquiae and the Greek term λείψανα, generally mean “that which remains”, referring to the human body or part of it.
In the Christian context, this word refers to a part of the body or an object that belonged to Christ, to the Madonna or to the mortal remains of those who are recognized as martyrs and saints and, more generally, to those objects that have been in contact with their person.

The new fragrance by Filippo Sorcinelli, after the tribute to Mario Giacomelli with “io non ho mani che mi accarezzino il volto”, returns to Senigallia to describe a simply extraordinary place, rich in history and works of art but also a great custodian of important relics of the Passion of Christ: the church of the Croce, considered one of the jewels of the Italian Baroque.
This oratory, dating back to 1608, was built at the behest of the Confraternity of the Sacrament and the Cross, which is still operating today and of which Filippo is a member with specific roles as organist and artistic director.

Reliqvia speaks of the walls covered in gilded wood, finely decorated with carvings and reliefs, speaks of the incensed steps towards the large main altar, like a golden embroidery, where inside is kept the statue of the dead Christ, a wooden work from the 17th century and visible only once a year.
But he also wants to synaesthetically frame the altarpiece by Federico Barocci, the Transport of Christ to the Sepulchre, one of the most beautiful works by the painter from Urbino, executed in 1582, and for which he also designed the frame.

Reliqvia is therefore a place to meet to recall memories, to remember the passing of time that becomes solemn and authentic gold, a message of corruptibility and incorruptibility.
Reliqvia is the concrete trace, the last trace, to describe in life an existence above us, different and prodigious. It is the always closed wardrobe, the precious custody of sacred men that makes us understand that time is precious and that it risks being consumed without leaving a clear mark in life. Reliqvia is the nail of the Passion, incense stratified and peaty from the solemn and sacred years. There is no sacred, if the men of the sacred do not recognize it as such, and exalt it in perfect rites. Reliqvia is the perfect space of the sacred. Touching the relics, touching something that has been in contact with them is a grace and a guarantee: for this reason the Romans tore apart the veils that had covered the holy martyrs and in which the corpses of the pontiffs were wrapped. For this reason the pontiffs were wrapped precisely in those veils. In the presence of the relics, the insane are healed, the possessed and the obsessed are freed, the blind regain their sight, the lame begin to walk again…
